WorldatWork Expanding Computer-Based Testing

Based on a positive response, WorldatWork is pleased to expand computer-based testing (CBT) for all course exams starting Jan. 1, 2010.  CBT provides customers with immediate preliminary test results in a secure environment. With locations worldwide, you can easily schedule your exam for the date, time and location most convenient for you.

Registering and Scheduling Your Exam

  1. Register for any one of the certification exams with WorldatWork, either online or by calling Customer Relationship Services at 877-951-9191 or 480-951-9191 outside of the U.S. and Canada. (Your complete registration and payment must be received before you can schedule your exam.)
  2. Your receipt will instruct you to visit www.pearsonvue.com/worldatwork to set up an account with your name and email address.
  3. Once you have set up an account with Pearson VUE, they will send you an email with your Pearson VUE login ID and password. Again, visit www.pearsonvue.com/worldatwork and select the link to 'Schedule a Test.'
  • You'll need your login ID and password to schedule your exam date, time and location. Alternatively, you may call the Pearson VUE Call Center at 877-385-7957 ext. 2895 to find a location and schedule your exam. You will only be eligible to schedule an exam for which you have registered through WorldatWork first.

What to Bring to the Testing Center

To complete the necessary sign-in procedures, it is recommended that you arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time. Please be prepared to show one (1) form of personal ID. The ID must be current (not expired) and include your signature and photo. For security reasons, some test centers may also require you to provide a fingerprint and/or take your digital photo upon arrival.

You will not be allowed to take any personal items with you into the testing room. This includes all purses, bags, books, notes, PDAs, cell phones, pagers, watches, wallets, hats, gloves and coats. Some testing centers have lockers available to store your personal items during your test. For the GR2/T3 exam, you will be allowed to bring your TI BAII calculator into the testing room. Basic calculators and scratch paper will be available at the testing center for any exam.

To make a request for special accommodations to take your exam or for any other questions, please contact WorldatWork at 877-951-9191 or 480-951-9191. Visit www.worldatwork.org/cbt for additional information on computer-based testing.

Computer Testing FAQ

How do I find out where Pearson VUE testing locations are?
When you visit
www.pearsonvue.com/worldatwork, the first link in the column on the right is “Locate a Test Center.” From here, you can input your address and search locations and find the testing centers that are closest to your area.

What do I need to bring to the CBT session?
Upon check-in at the Pearson VUE testing center, you will need to provide a photo ID that matches the name in your WorldatWork profile and includes your signature. Some testing centers may also take a digital picture of you and/or require a fingerprint. In the testing room, you will have access to a basic calculator and scratch paper. If you are taking the Quantitative Methods (T3/GR2) exam, you will be allowed to bring your BAII calculator into the testing room. Formulas for the Quantitative Methods exam are available when you access the exam.

You will not be allowed to take any personal items with you into the testing room. This includes all purses, bags, books, notes, PDAs, cell phones, pagers, watches, wallets, hats, gloves and coats. Some testing locations offer lockers to secure your personal items during the test, or a staff member may hold these items at a desk. You are encouraged to leave your personal items in your car.

How will I be sure that the exam I take is the right one?
You will only be eligible to take an exam you have registered and paid for with WorldatWork. Once your purchase is confirmed, WorldatWork will send that information, with your specific exam eligibility, directly to Pearson VUE to allow you to schedule that exam alone. When you schedule your exam for the date, time and location most convenient to you, you will confirm that you are proceeding with the correct exam.

How do I know how much time my exam will take?
When you schedule your exam through Pearson VUE, the specific time limit for that test will be provided. All WorldatWork certification exams are between two hours (120 minutes) and three and a half hours (210 minutes).

What if I need more than 120 days to schedule my exam?
If you prefer to study the material for a longer time before completing the exam, 30-day exam eligibility extensions are available for a $150 fee. These extensions must be purchased before the original 120 days expires.

What if I need to reschedule my exam?
If you wish to reschedule the date, time or location of your exam, contact Pearson VUE at least 24 hours prior to your original exam appointment. Pearson VUE charges a $25 rescheduling fee and will only reschedule your exam with 24 hours advance notice.

If you do not reschedule or offer advance notice and you are unable to make your appointment, you’ll need to call WorldatWork to re-open your eligibility file. WorldatWork will charge a $200 USD (Premier member)/$270 USD (nonmember) fee at the time you re-open this exam.

How can I get more comfortable with CBT before taking an exam?
Your exam time limit includes time for a short tutorial of computer-based testing and its features. The tutorial will be available soon on
www.pearsonvue.com/worldatwork.

What do the immediate preliminary results mean?
With CBT, when you are finished with your exam, you will be provided with a score as soon as you submit. A score of 75% is needed to pass all certification exams. The immediate score is not your final score, however. The final score, which is verified independently by WorldatWork Society of Certified Professionals, will be posted to your official status report two to four weeks after taking the exam.

How does CBT make exams more secure?
Pearson VUE administers professional exams and adheres to the highest exam standards and security. With CBT, we have the confidence that WorldatWork exams will be administered without distractions and in a controlled environment, and scores will be received and processed by WorldatWork in an efficient manner. All certification candidates will have the same experience.

How is CBT more convenient for traditional classroom participants?
Instead of blocking three days to take a course and exam, you now only have to block two days in a row for the class and have the convenience to take an exam on a weekend or any other time that might work with your schedule and with reduced travel. For those who might want additional preparation time, CBT offers the flexibility for additional study time.
