2008 Incentive Plan Design: Lessons Learned
The presentation will provide guidance on how to develop an incentive plan design that meets your company’s strategic objectives. Learn how to integrate best practices and trends with innovative design features. We will review how to design a plan that reflects your corporate strategy by reinforcing the right behaviors.  Issues and obstacles will be examined including selecting appropriate performance measures, line of sight, and other challenges.  Case studies will be discussed covering five different types of plans including: executive, sales, an hourly plant team, a call center and a project team.

Janet Koechel, JFK Consulting, Inc.
Janet F. Koechel is a seasoned compensation expert with over 25 years of experience in human resources. As Managing Director of JFK Consulting, Inc., she specializes in the design of strategic compensation programs for domestic and multinational companies.  Since its inception, her company has provided Total Compensation Solutions to companies spanning such industries as airline, retail, telecommunications, manufacturing, defense, financial services, e-Commerce, petroleum, software, and high technology services. 

A certified compensation professional or “CCP” since 1981, she is also a very active member of the North Texas Compensation Association and has taught the certification course, Total Rewards for WorldatWork.  Janet has published articles in a variety of compensation venues including ACA News, and workspan, the news magazine for WorldatWork.  In addition, she was asked to contribute articles to the NTCA website for The Comp Doctor over the last several years.  She co-authored an article with Dr. John Davis entitled, “Fundamentals of Salary Surveys”  for a WorldatWork publication, called, Survey Handbook and Directory.  A frequent presenter at national and regional human resources conferences, she has spoken on topics such as performance measures, mergers and acquisitions, salary surveys, incentive plan design, gender pay discrimination, FLSA compliance and related topics.

Ms. Koechel holds a BA degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and is a member of WorldatWork and the Society for Human Resources Management or SHRM. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from WorldatWork for contributions to the compensation and benefits profession.
