The Position:
Provides legendary Customer service to Southwest Airlines Co. Leadership team and Employees by leading the development, implementation and administration of the Company's non contract compensation programs.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a resource to all departments with Southwest on compensation issues.
- Utilizes available databases and reporting tools (such as Impromptu, Tesseract, & Access) to analyze the performance and effectiveness of compensation plans on both attraction and retention as well as modeling new and modified plan designs.
- Develops non-contract salary structure; assists managers with job analysis and evaluation; analyzes salary survey data.
- Works with Stock Option Administration to determine eligibility, grant size, timing, cost and effectiveness of equity programs.
- Provides oversight to non-contract pay transactions to assure compliance with salary administration guidelines and recommends exceptions when appropriate.
- Reviews and approves all non contract salary transactions as well as new positions and changes to existing positions.
- Oversees the matching of Southwest positions to external benchmarks to ensure proper slotting into our grade structure.
- Actively participates in Compensation industry groups and associations such as AIRCON, SIRS, and World at Work.
- Works in partnership with the Southwest Airlines Legal department to ensure compliance and reporting necessary with regard to the Department of Labor, OFCCP or other federal, state, municipal, or other agencies.
- Develops annual merit recommendation and oversees administration of merit program.
- Assists in developing RFP’s; overseeing selection process for various vendors and service providers as necessary.
- Assists in coordinating the development of compensation communication materials to introduce new programs and reiterate existing programs.
- Leads, selects, develops and motivates a staff of professional Employees to provide positively outrageous service to internal Customers and to accomplish departmental objectives.
Expectations/Qualifications:
- College degree in Human Resource, Finance or related field required.
- Must have at least five years of compensation analysis and design experience.
- Must have previous Leadership experience.
- CCP preferred
- Must possess broad, advanced and current knowledge of compensation theory and practices such as forms of equity and variable compensation.
- Must possess strong knowledge of applicable regulations and legislation.
- Knowledge of best practices in the administration of compensation within SAP preferred.
- Must have excellent analytical skills and knowledge of statistical techniques.
- Must possess advanced level of P.C. skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and database applications.
- Must possess demonstrated knowledge of and experience with LAN-based applications.
- Must have judgment sufficient to resolve issues and questions related to costs.
- Must be able to interface well with people at all levels within the Company.
- Must possess excellent organization skills.
- Must work under tight time constraints to accomplish assignments and projects.
- Must be able to travel extensively and work varying schedules.
- Ability to meet the public at all levels, represent the Company and department and work under stressful situations.
- Must demonstrate an extremely high regard for confidential and sensitive information.
